Applications for Futuresound 2009 will be accepted until Friday 29th May 2009.
The annual Futuresound competition – now into its 9th year – offers unsigned bands from around the North of the UK the opportunity to play at the Leeds Festival.
In previous years, many bands have taken to the stages at the festival as a result of playing the Futuresound event. Last year saw interest from hundreds of top quality entrants and hip hop acts have a history of doing well in the competition as BTI proved when they won in 2007!!
The winner this year will once again play on the Festival Republic Stage at both Leeds and Reading and the 5 runners up will perform at both sites on the BBC Introducing Stage.
From all the applications, thirty bands will be selected with the next phase of the competition being held over 10 dates, running from the end of June and over the course of July. Each gig will feature a three band line-up and all gigs will be judged by three judges from within the Leeds music industry.
Full details about the competition, conditions of entry and application forms can be found here.
Applications are accepted from Monday 11th May and the deadline for entries will be Friday 29th May.
