This week MUZU TV features an interview with Roots Manuva as the hip-hop master chats about his latest release ‘Slime and Reason’.
In the interview Roots Manuva shares the explanation behind the album’s name. He says “it’s a play on ‘rhyme and reason’…you have more of a slippery sense of reason” and that the album’s content is “a reflection of my head and…my position in the world”.
The interview also shows a sneak behind-the-scenes look at Roots’ summer single ‘Buff Nuff’ which shows him ‘slime-ing’ up to get into character as a desirable ice-cream man who drives all the girls crazy! He quips “people see me as a rapper, an MC, a musician but I’m none of those things, I’m just trying to get enough money to buy myself an ice cream!”
He also goes onto talk about album production. He confesses that he wanted ‘Slime and Reason’ to be more live sounding and admits that through the writing process “I must write close to what is gobbledegook!”
