D’YA LIKE SCRATCHIN’?
Check - check fans of the LHHS, searching for this album was worth every effort, although only 35 minutes long you really do have to pick this up. It’s brought on the scene by FATBEATS in New York and allows TOTAL ECLIPSE; ROB SWIFT & PRECISION to start the rescue mission of scratch mix CD’s.
If you ever bought into or downloaded any of the X-ECUTIONERS material before they split and 2 of them formed this iddy biddy group, you’ll have a small idea of how they do their thing, here’s my take on it.

  1. HALFTIME INTRO feat. ECLIPSE - a low level beat with ECLIPSE tellin’ us how they’re back to pay their dues to hip-hop and set a new standard for turntablism, admittin’ it’s got borin’.
  2. THE PRELUDE - a nice steady beat, basic drum pattern and light scratches, a nice starter that has a few ILL INSANITY cuts and nice clean scratches of the usual sounds. Listenin’ to it on the heads and it is really mesmerising after a few bottles of COORS Light.
  3. P BOUNCE feat. EXCESS - pickin’ up the pace with a b-b-b-bounce bonanza, cool as fu(k cuts and as before, everything is clean as a whistle, very team battle esq.
  4. 5 FINGERS OF DEATH feat. Q-BERT - well, what more you gonna expect, Q-BERT’s in on the job. This is the stuff of giants. Has a real feel of the old DECKWRECKA material and the way have put the beats together is the balls, love it.
  5. NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION feat. DAVE McMURRAY - one of my favourites on the album, if you’ve ever heard or seen KID KOALA or C2C then you’ll be able to relate to this one. Cuttin’ up horns and the likes they really kick ass with this, check out that sax, makes ya wanna get yer lady back to the den of love for a bit of a roll in the silk covered pit, the scratches are on another level.
  6. BREAK ILL - basically one big scratch off including all three members. So you think you can scratch? Listen and learn!
  7. SCRATCH LIVE feat. ROC RAIDA - the other from a different mother ROC RAIDA doin’ his thing with the old team
X-ECEUTIONERS on the SCRATCH LIVE TOUR, sick live shiz
  1. INSANE STYLE - short but sweet ROB SWIFT scratch session.
  2. ILL INSANITY - another ROB SWIFT session on the ones ‘n’ two’s, reminds me of a couple of tracks CUT CHEMIST has done in the past.
  3. SOUND SCIENCE - slow juggled beat and small amount of cuts, almost want to speed it up a little, just a little! Pleaaaaaase!
  4. SOUL TRAIN LINE - my favourite right here, the complete scratch track. Ace beat, and scratches of everything from JACKSON 5, JAY-Z and PHAROAH MONCH to all those you’ll have played with on the breaks records. Smashed it with this one, the bomb!
  5. WE DON’T STOP - you can see this being the overdub at the beginning of a tour video, maybe that is in mind?
  6. DECORATED VETS feat. DASHAH - another of my faves, like the collabo with DASHAH, good style, fair lyrics apart from the fact that after the COORS I’m picturing him with a load of tinsel and baubles hangin’ off him!
  7. HALFTIME OUTRO feat. ECLIPSE - ECLIPSE once again tellin’ us they’re back to bring the fun to the DJ side of tings.

Seriously, buy this. There is some homeboys sellin’ this on ebay but I didn’t have much luck anywhere else, don’t sleep on it, FATBEATS don’t always do the re-press thing. The scratch is back in the way of ILL INSANITY, it’s about time, SCRATCH PERVERTS, take note, drop the drum ‘n’ bass and get with it.
