Leeds Hip Hop Scene

2007 has been a fantastic year for the site and the local artists we have met and supported over the past 12 months, who could have thought that in such a short space of time we could create such an informative site and help bring various artists together. We have seen the launch of 2 regular underground nights in Deep Cuts and Diff’rent Strokes, did a video interview of Jehst, the debut solo release from Chief Wiggum, the first Leeds By Example Live, Breaking the Illusion getting muddy and rocking out in Glastonbury and the formation of the hip-hop super collective of Northern Hostility.

There are so many plans for 2008 as we aim to take Diff’rent Strokes to a new city centre venue whilst continuing to work with unsigned acts at the Primrose pub in Meanwood. We are always on the lookout for aspiring young writers to help us interview artists and review all the hot releases we just haven’t got a minute to review… as well as offering podcasts, video interviews and news.

LHHS has featured in several websites (bbc.co.uk)/magazines (Touch & Traffic)/radio shows (LSR Fm & HHBRadio.com) this year here are a few examples not to mention breaking into the BT Digital Music Awards top 20 music blogs in the people’s choice awards 2007!

So raise your glasses of alka seltzer and toast in a New year, and lets hope it’s even more exciting and successful for all those hard working artists/bloggers/promoters in UK Hip Hop!!
