jehst has fallen off! this was fucking lame needs to retire. falling down to now wack.
The lighting ain’t great but its a decent interview with Jehst. Whoever you are “benzie” I really appreciate the fact you can put a constructive argument together. Why is Jehst lame? Can you expand on your point that the UK’s premier underground rapper should retire?
Perhaps you should retire from leaving blog comments until you can construct a sentence?
Yeah, we spent the best part of an hour tryna get some more lighting sorted. Thats why the lads are chowing down by the time we actually got to the interview.
Here is my constructive arguement: Jehst was lyrically superior on his early work, however during recent outings such as the mengi bus he seems to have dumbed himself down with simplistic rhyme patterns and boring ‘road’ narrations. Even his production has slipped in quality, look at the dexterity of the trilogy beat compared to the banality of dynamite sound. My closing statement shall now focus on why he should retire in bullet point form:
. Why ruin a supreme legacy that includes the high planes drifter ep and staircase to stage with lack luster forced performances such as his recent outing on DJ IQ’S 8 bars of fire.
. For gradually letting the term ‘blood’ slip into his everyday diction and his increasingly unintelligent rhyme content.
. Running around in camoflauge like an urban gorilla yet not fighting for his country when there’s a perfectly good war on.
P.S
You couldn’t light a candle in a fire factory
I bid you fairwell
good interview, Parkie comes across good, respecting the elders is what life’s about, effortless chit chat, anyone got Mengibus???
Wow what’s up with that Benzie kid? Did someone leave his vinyl next to a radiator?
To be fair he may have a bit of a point about J-Star… Nuke Proof Suit was kinda gash but I still hold out hope that the new album’s gonna be reasonably good. He was on decent form live this time round (and not in a Skinnyman-at-Fresh-Jive “I liked it but no-one else in Leeds seems to have” kind of way!)
Bit confused as to how Jehst going to war in Iraq would help, unless Benzie is that pissed off he wants to see him getting killed by insurgents.
Interesting dig at braintax there…
Good interview. Braintax is getting no love in the scene any more! Seems like he’s screwing people over with the cash - BTI, Chester P, Mystro…Jehst saying he’s ruining the whole scene basically!
Mengi Bus surely is a collection of bits and pieces some of which are old raps and that so can’t really base an argument on that. What is wrong with camoflage and saying blood? Not much.
Good interview but weren’t you hungry with them eating?!
^
yeah man Braintax seems to pissing off a hell of a lot of the Lowlife artists, and with Verb T leaving for Silent Soundz it makes you wonder how long he can hold on to his one last asset… dubbledge?
I’m looking forward to some more LHHS vids thats for sure…
Ha ha yeah I’d had some pizza already… what Jehst didn’t mention is that that’s either the second or third one they’d ordered!
As to Braintax…. sad to say cos he was definitely one of my major influences getting into this shit but he does seem to be the least popular man in UK Hip-Hop right now.
Oh yeah and we interviewed Verb T and the Last Skeptik on Wednesday night so look out for that… I thought Skrein’s contributions were especially profound, let’s just say if he ever gives up on rapping he may have an alternative career mapped out as a gynaecologist…
Yo, tight interview there guys, I’m well gutted I had to miss out on it, but like Parky says, these are the things you gotta do when you got kids…
And who gives a fuck about lighting when you have some real UK talent talking about REAL hip hop issues?
Nicely edited, especially with the live show snippets spliced in, would love to see some more of that footage on here at some point!
@ analogue
jehst being killed by insurgents isnt what im after im looking more for infadels.
