I was down at the Fav early last night to meet up with Analogue & the rest of the boys to get a filmed interview with Jehst, and I can promise it’ll be online in the next couple of days!!!

Kid Acne was the main support for the evening with his Sheffield entourage in tow, and to be honest I really didn’t feel it. I know alot of people have been giving this guy some rave reviews and been signed to Lex I thought I was going to be in store for something momentous, but sadly I felt cheated. With his support provided by a guy who looked and dressed like my 4th year geography teacher I found it hard to get in to the set - with comparisons to the Beastie Boys coming to the fore. The only piece I found entertaining was the thought that Kid Acne may actually fall off of his perch as he kept jumping on to the railings at the front of the stage.

Gladly their set was over fairly quickly and we could settle into a brief and enjoyable set by DMC finalist Andy H and host for the night Testament. A mix of reggae, hip hop and turntable skills was what the crowd were crying out for and when he dropped Roots Manuva’s “Witness the fitness” the crowd really got moving!

Finally the main event and what we had all been waiting for the YNR boys graced the stage, first up was Micall Parkinson who held the stage well alone with support from LG on the 1’s and 2’s. Before the “Gaffer” joined him on stage to take us through some of his popular classic tracks and some of his new beats from the “Mengi Bus Mixtape“. There was a good bit of banter between Jehst and Parky, including Billy Brimstone aka Jehst showing us his new look of a towel and New Era cap on your head! Finally he was joined by Sir Smurf Lil of the Colony and the stage was full and bouncing. It was an incredible performance from the last time I saw Jehst at the Fav as he was a little “Under the Weather”, but this show was one I think everyone enjoyed.
