Going Under The Patio…
Published by Chris July 26th, 2007 in News.
I was reading The Last Skeptik’s “Under the Patio” article today and I have to agree with alot of the points he raises in his article regarding downloads and the UK hip hop scene…
See, the best thing about downloading, illegally and legally, is that the word can be spread far and wide with minimal cost to the artist or label. As long as the artist ends up getting paid, then whatever. But, times are changing. I feel like rather than getting money from product, we as artists need to get cashola from performing live. And yes numbers at gigs are down too. So the lazy pigfuckers out there who don’t go to shows, don’t request the tracks on the radio, and yet download the music for free, just to complain about it not being good enough on their forums. Listen, you colostomy bags, until you purchase my music, you don’t even have an opinion. You are void of a soul. I own your soul, and you can only get it back by buying my album on August 13th. That is the stone cold truth. Oh shit. Hate is so good. Hate is this years black. It’s the new love. It is the new everything, combined in to one giant glutinous mass of beautiful hatred. I feel like going to Battersea Dogs Home and punching puppies in the face. Alas, that last one was in jest. If you are shocked, or want to complain, I don’t mind providing you with the hacksaw for you to start off the bettering of the human race. Beginning with you. Dead.
Sadly UK Hip-Hop audiences are dwindling every week, its a very sorry state of affairs, there are so many people out there whining that there are never any hip hop nights in their area? Bollocks, get off your lazy arses, stop bitching and get your local newspaper, have a search in Google and I bet you’ll find something within 15 miles of your house thats going on tonight?
If not put on your own nights, get your hands dirty and do a spot of DIY, there are plenty of pubs and clubs in the UK willing to work with promoters to bring new acts and new audiences to their venues. If you’re too lazy to buy the CD and too lazy to spend a few quid going to support your local music scene then what are you doing? What gives you the right to complain when you don’t like something or comment on why your local area has no hip hop gigs, its quite simple its because there a thousands of people like you who just can’t be arsed!
If people want I’ll be quite happy to run an article in the future on how to put on some small DIY gigs on a budget if you would be interested.

Too true.
There’s nothing I hate more than a supposed music fan downloading music but not giving back to the artists. I have no idea why the lack of interest in going to live gigs these days but I see live shows as the ultimate in the music experience.
