Mr J Medeiros – Of Gods and Girls – Rawkus

I was reading the latest Traffic Mag this afternoon and as always I flicked over to Analogue’s column where he was chatting about the recent resurgence at Rawkus Records; and what do I find when I get home but a Rawkus promo copy of Mr J Medeiros – “of gods and girls” to review?

If you don’t already know Mr J. is a veteran emcee with a lot of versatility and style, he is part of the Procussions who have been around for over 10 years. I had seen a copy of his single and video for “Constance” on Youtube, and it seems to have done really well as it tackles the serious and disturbing topic of human trafficking in South East Asia.

Mr J. really is a social icon that many aspiring young artists should look to as he takes on alot of voluntary and community work something that many artists preach but very rarely practise. Handling alot of his own production on his debut release, including the some of the most stand out tracks on the album including “Keep Pace” and “Silent Earth”  whilst teaming up with Procussions members Rez, Strange Fruit on the Illmind (of G-Unit fame) and Stro the 89th Key.

Due for UK release on 16th July 2007.
